During the 1980's into early 1990's we went on our family holidays to Paignton. These holidays always evokes a lot of wonderful memories. The holidays would always begin with double checking our suit cases and bags and then we would take a taxi to the train station. Perhaps it's because we were little, but the memories about what it was like on the train station reminds me it seemed a massive and extremely busy place, with lots of emotions of excitement for me and Ian.
Our destination and the hotel we stayed at was the same one so we got to know the owners a bit. I remember dad and mum telling Ian and I that they were called Pat and Wally - so it was always we were going to stay at Pat and Wally's :) One year we had a room that you could see across one of the main roads that was near a green were one year a music festival which was the radio one road show was held. The breakfast room, well the room were they guests would eat breakfast and dinners I think was always filled with smiling and happy people. Pat and Wally always provided a fun and welcoming experience. I remember mum showing us some old photographs of one holiday that there was a fancy dress and performance night on and dad was one of the parents who dressed up and he had such a massive grin and belly-laughing at the fun, and that is always a brilliant photo to look at :)
The beach was always an exciting and main place for us to go. Dad would be relaxing on the beach or deck chair and me and Ian would be playing or going for a swim, with mum also keeping and close eye on us with dad or joining us and playing. It was always a pleasure and amazing times on that beach with dad and mum. The shops and streets were nice to look around from what I can remember, but it was always the beach for us! :)
