This year father's day was an occasion with mixed emotions. The days leading up to father's day felt like a time that should be quick to get to and, at the same time, take time to get to. It felt like this because Ian and I wanted more days, more conversations, and more little moments with Dad.
Father's day had many little nice moments. When we got to the hospital, Dad greeted us with a warm smile. It was lovely to see Dad have so much enthusiasm, as much as he could have, to try to celebrate that day like he did. He managed to chat to Ian most evenings after we'd gone from the hospital before it go late which was wonderful :)
Dad loved his card Ian and I got him. It had a few different cartoon faces on it showing different pictures of dad's in different jobs and appearances. Most of all, Dad said he loved the messages me and Ian wrote for him. The Billy Connolly book from me and Ian has a slight difference to it. It's not just another autobiography but a story book of mini tales by Billy Connolly. Dad didn't get the chance to start reading it, so me and Ian will enjoy it for Dad :)
